RECONSTRUCTioN of Vintage nOGUCHI cyclone TABLETOP

 

In some occasions we come across opportunity to work with a vintage piece that requires a restoration or pursue a new direction. Our client purchased an older Noguchi cyclone table with a damaged top. The table was designated to be the centerpiece of children"s playroom and we decided to strip the surface of the plastic laminate and transform the existing surface into a fresh and new look.

In keeping with the original base, we recruited David Lindberg, a local artist who specializes in resin work to reconstruct the tabletop. The old top was treated with layers of color, translucent surface, cut-outs and abstract pattern, giving it a new life with multiplicity of uses appreciated by the playful cats.
